Wine Soaked
Literally!

Full bodied red: brown paper bag test drives a sensuous wine spa treatment.

Anti Tann-Inn

The experts over at Grand Hyatt Mumbai are adding a dash of Nine Hills red wine to rice, and they’re not making risotto. This we found when we went to test drive their spa’s newly launched couple wine treatment. Three words: bibulous, ridiculous, fabulous!

When we first heard about the wine spa treatment, we had vivid images of being soaked in large, crimson-filled vats. The, reality however, was a lot less dramatic.
Even so, we couldn’t help but feel like pieces of meat, being kneaded, oiled, glazed and prepared to be served at a feast.

When Fulu Rushed In

We went in feet first - a five-minute reflexology massage, after which we were (intimately) acquainted with  a crush of deep purple grapes, rice and red wine meant to hydrate, exfoliate and lighten sun spots.  Masseur Fulu scrubbed, scrounged and coated us with it from head to toe for 45 minutes. Full bodied red, indeed. Messy as it was, the perfumed mix had intoxicated us to indifference. That we had to walk to the shower leaving crimson crumbs behind, didn’t bother us so much either.

Skin washed supple, with a light glaze of red, we staggered back for a massage. Aroma oils and nimble hands took care of knots, stress and pains with accuracy (45 minutes), after which we underwent a head massage (30 minutes). Flesh cooked, we ended up in the steamer.

And as if we weren’t all wined out, we were given a bottle of red when we left. This one, we could actually drink.

Better Harv-est

At Rs 12,000 a couple, the treatment seems steep, but makes more sense when you consider that you’re really getting four services rolled into one. Besides, where else will you get braised with your better half in a five star hotel?

bpb Exclusive: To lessen the sting, we scored an awesome freebie, especially for you. With a treatment at the Wine Spa, you get 15% off at Christiaan Georgio, the hotel’s ultra hip hair salon. Just take along a print out of our latest weekend guide!
